This week at Green Navigation, we are thrilled to share some fantastic news: we have secured over €93,000 in funding from Missions València 2030! This initiative aims to reduce the GHG emissions of València city by 55% in the upcoming years, as a major contributor to the EU’s climate neutrality goal by 2050. Missions València emphasizes sustainability through collaborative efforts across multiple sectors to advance decarbonization.
In this context, we introduced Green Navigation as our contribution in reducing the GHG emissions of the world’s merchant fleet. Green Navigation can be integrated easily in any vessel: it only needs a computer on board. Ships that follow our optimized routes save on average 6% fuel. If all the ships that pass through València adopt this software, they will cut 4.5 million tons of CO2 emissions every year! Our commitment with València city is strong, as we are part of Opentop’s acceleration program, located in the port of Valencia.
We are immensely proud to share that Green Navigation was selected as the top project by the jury. The funding from Missions València will significantly boost our development, enabling us to bring our cutting-edge weather routing system to the shipping industry and assist them in achieving the sustainable development goals.
In the picture you can see Chema Leal, Ecosystem Builder of Opentop, who represented us in receiving this prestigious award. Our heartfelt thanks go to Chema and the entire Opentop team for their invaluable mentorship and support that has propelled us to this milestone. We also want to express our gratitude to Missions València for their trust and support in our vision.
